{"id":4620,"date":"2026-02-08T09:15:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T09:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grants.zimadtech.com\/home\/?p=4620"},"modified":"2026-02-08T09:15:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T09:15:15","slug":"police-to-continue-eviction-at-two-mile-top-cop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grants.zimadtech.com\/home\/2026\/02\/08\/police-to-continue-eviction-at-two-mile-top-cop\/","title":{"rendered":"Police to continue eviction at Two-Mile: Top cop"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">POLICE will conduct another eviction exercise at the Rabiagini settlement at Two-Mile, Port Moresby, when they have completed the Four-Mile Works compound task, a top cop says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acting Assistant Police Commissioner for the National Capital District and Central, Benjamin Turi, said the court had ordered another eviction exercise at Two-Mile Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe lawyer of the landowner has sent a letter notifying us of the title,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe already carried out the first one (eviction) based on a court order from 2022. Before that, a police unit was shot at while attending to a situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turi said other evictions to take place in the capital city included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"307\" height=\"164\" src=\"https:\/\/grants.zimadtech.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/NRL-21.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4621\" style=\"width:754px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/grants.zimadtech.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/NRL-21.jpeg 307w, https:\/\/grants.zimadtech.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/NRL-21-300x160.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HOHOLA Suksuk Tyre Service and towards the Pitstop fuel station, where people were keeping pigs;<br>GORDON National Housing Commission (NHC) flats next to Tan Trading;<br>EIGHT-Mile next to Glory Estate;<br>NINE-Mile and Bush Wara; and,<br>ERIMA under the flyover bridge.<br>ACP Turi said they were all outstanding court orders from last year. Awareness has been conducted and evictions are now being carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOnce we get rid of all the old flats and makeshift shelters, Gordon will be safer for people to move around,\u201d Turi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor Gordon, they had lost the court case and an eviction was supposed to have been carried out some years ago under former police commanders, but it didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are enforcing those orders now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turi described the area at Gordon as an eyesore and a criminal hub for pickpockets and petty crime suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe city will be cleaned up and people must move out from these settlements. Another eviction will take place at Eight-Mile,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese are State land and some already have owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is illegal to squat on land that does not belong to you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that people living and conducting markets under the Erima flyover will also be removed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>POLICE will conduct another eviction exercise at the Rabiagini settlement at Two-Mile, Port Moresby, when they have completed the Four-Mile Works compound task, a top cop says.
