PAPUA New Guineans must keep their faith in God as the guiding light of hope and courage to face the challenges of the new year, says Sir John Cardinal Ribat.

Sir John, the Archbishop of Port Moresby, added: “As we welcome the new year, may Christ’s light guide us forward with hope and courage. May His peace dwell in our hearts, our homes and nation. Let us reach out to the poor, the sick, the elderly, and those who feel forgotten.
“In the midst of our challenges, uncertainties, and daily struggles, we must be reminded that God is with us, walking alongside us, and calling us to live as people of faith, compassion, and unity.”
In his Christmas message, he called on all leaders to be guided by integrity, humility and service for the common good of the people.
“I wish you all a peaceful and prosperous new year. May God bless you and your families. And may God bless Papua New Guinea.”
Catholic Bishops Conference of PNG and Solomon Islands general-secretary Fr Lawrence Arockiaraj said the year had been a time of grace, renewal and spiritual growth for the church.
He called on the people to embrace opportunities to build stronger communities and live their lives through faith in the new year.
“The jubilee year calls us to strengthen our commitment to the Gospel, to deepen our prayer life and to serve our communities with greater dedication,” he said.
